The Parkway Wrestling Club was founded to help grow wrestling throughout the Parkway School District – although, participants do not have to attend Parkway Schools to join the PWC. Historically, wrestling was a sport of choice for many students at all area high schools. While it is still this way in pockets throughout the district, the PWC believes that many area youth are not participating in a sport that they would love and thrive in. Alas, the Parkway Wrestling Club was born! The PWC was jointly proposed by local community members and local coaches. The aim is to support the growth of a fun, inclusive, and affordable sport for all youth in the area.
The mission of the PWC is to develop student leaders and athletes through positive social interactions and physical fitness. Wrestling is a truly unique sport, that has few barriers to entry. Without the need for specialized equipment, it is a sport that all can compete in at the highest levels, regardless of demographics, gender, or disability. The goal is to teach lessons, such as teamwork, discipline, courage, humility and a healthy lifestyle….. while having fun!.
The world’s oldest sport, wrestling is one of the most popular sports in America. Some of the most successful NFL legends as well as 13 presidents of the United States were competitive wrestlers.
